Homeward Bound?

We heard today that our insurance company approved a transfer and we could be going home next week! We are hesitantly excited, as everything here is a day to day adventure. However, from what we were told, we could be sending these updates from Chicago by mid next week!

We have been discussing this with our insurance company and Albany Med for the past few weeks, but we didn't want to get our hopes up or spread the word, as we were told it was a long shot. Medically, he is absolutely fine to make the trip, the long shot was getting the insurance to cover it. The nurses were as shocked as we were when it went through and we are all very excited at the prospect of getting Jack closer to home!
We still don't know all the details. We were told that things will get "put in motion" on Monday. Our understanding is that Jack will get his own special medical airplane, fully equipped with everything he needs, including a doctor and a nurse. Soren and I will make plans to arrive home ahead of him to get everything squared away at his destination hospital (which we don't know yet). It will be a very long few hours when he is in the air, but knowing that he is traveling with all his equipment and medical professionals might acutally be easier than getting on the plane a month from now with a 4 lb baby, leaving behind every Dr. and nurse that's ever seen him.

We are still soaking this all in and trying to figure out logistics. It's hard that we won't know anything else unti Monday, but we will keep everyone posted!

Jack is still doing great. He gained back almost an ounce and is back up to 2lbs 5oz. In these pictures, he's modeling another outfit in his preemie collection (Thanks Kelly! I think it makes him look so much bigger when he's not swimming in his clothes.)
Love, Donna, Soren & Jack
Here's a new video too:

Oh my Gosh! Oh my Gosh! I have just about been doing cartwheels since you phoned me with the fantastic news this afternoon! I am so glad that you announced it this evening. I have been about to explode with excitement and not telling anyone. This is a HUGE milestone! I feel badly for Grandma & Grandpa Culver,(they will miss him)however, all the Chicagoans will be overwhelmed when they read this latest update! I am praying that Jack continues growing bigger and stronger each day. Thank you God for all your blessings. Grandma Glynn is smiling from ear to ear!

I have to say that this is bittersweet news, but Jack and his parents need to be home. We are sad to see them go- but the windy city calls.
Jack will be getting his first plane ride before he is one month old. He won't have to worry about germs or sitting next to some touchy/feely person who tries to grab his cheek. He will be safe with a staff of professionals to meet his every need. Way to go Jack!!!That guy with the beanstalk has nothing on you.
Thanks for spending your first few weeks here in new york
Keep up the spitbubble practice. I heard the competition in Chicago is quite fierce.
See you Sunday

I was 31 before I flew first class. This guy gets his own plane? What a diva.

I'm happy to hear that I might see Jack in 3-D sooner than expected.
