A Perfect Fit

Jack has spent much of the past few days with his finger up his nose. Usually the left index finger, usually the left nostril. All a part of the developmental phase I call "putting things in stuff." This includes the obvious stacking games with toys, feeding others his food (and offering me most of his toys to eat). He's also found that if I have on a v-neck shirt on, well, this is a perfect place to store things.

He also loves books and being read to. His most favorite book is "Shoe Baby," about a baby that goes on adventures in a shoe. It has a nice rhyme to it, and I don't mind reading it 3-4 times a day. If he's being crabby, or trying to wrestle his way off the changing table, just reciting the words "There once was a baby who hid in a shoe..." gets a big smile.

As he gets taller by the second, safe havens for electronics and other "no-nos" are becoming fewer and fewer. Here is the laptops-eye view, where it used to be safe on a table..

I love the philosophical way you look at things, Donna. Jack is a very lucky little boy.
The big trick is trying to get him to keep his fingers out of his nose as an adult. Boys continue to do ickey things as adults - that's why they marry members of the opposite sex - to tell them that things like that are no longer socially acceptable.

Nosepicking is a sign of genius -- don't let anyone tell you different.

Those last couple photos need the Jaws theme playing in the background.
