24 Hours later...

So we made it to day 2--hooray! After his first bath at home, the night was pretty much sleepless for me, but also pleasantly uneventful. Jack: eat, poop, sleep, eat, poop, sleep, eat, poop, sleep. Me: Feed, change, stare, feed, change stare, feed, change, stare. In addition to my nocturnal mom skills, I'm also working on singing and songwriting. So far there is "Super Jack, you ate it all" and "You're a Poop Explosion."

This morning after Soren went to work, Jack came along with me in the bouncer chair from room to room as I washed the bottles, made the coffee, rinsed the outfit and blanket (the inspiration for "Poop Explosion"), and managed a 30 second shower (peeking out every few seconds to see if he was still there). All the "regular" mom things. Laura & Ryan are here this afternoon to keep us company.

You may be wondering..what's that red thing on his head? I started to wonder that too and the Drs say it's nothing to worry about yet. It's a hemangioma (blood vessel that didn't close). It may get a little bigger, but should go away or stay as a little birthmark.

WOO-HOO! I'm the first to comment!
I'm glad everyone survived the first 24 hours. It's the next 30 years that are the tricky part.

Aaahh.. 30 second showers.. I remember them well. Sometimes you'll get out of the shower and go.. "Gee.. did I rinse the conditioner out of my hair?".. only to have to get back into the shower for another 30 seconds.
Do try to sleep when you can.

You don't have to wait 24 hours to post, you know. Keep those pictures and blogs coming!! (no pressure though) We love them! Aunt Mary has been late for work.. because she has to check the blog each day before she leaves in the morning.
Megan wrote me last night about yesterday's blog and how excited she was that Jack was home.

I hope poor Soren is managing, with working, starting school.. and trying to get as much baby and Mom time as possible. I understand how difficult that can be. You almost hate to sleep for fear you'll miss something cute.

Keep up the great work... you have one blessed family!

Love you guys,
G.A.C.

Hi Jack
Cory said it all!!
You have a wonderful family. It is so fantastic to read about you so often and know how your day is going. You are quite the thing in our lives. We enjoy all the tales of eating, sleeping and pooping in your life.
I remember singing to your dad but never composed such an extensive portfolio.
One of my favorite memories of "poop" was one day when your dad was about 13 months old. He woke from his nap as usual. He never cried, he alway enjoyed the book I would leave for him to keep him busy, until I could get to him. He was giggling and seemed to be so happy. So-- I finished folding the laundry. I entered the room to find he had learned to fingerpaint! All the slats, the headboard, the footboard and the wall were covered with this wonderful brown substance we call "POOP". I am telling you this so you know "Poop explosions" are just apart of life. Look how wonderful your dad turned out.

Your uncle Ezra had one of those little "angel kisses" too.

I am so happy your mom is enjoying motherhood and is sharing it with all of us. Your aunt Kelly and I read every word- and call each other to be sure we didnt miss any thing. We are all so overjoyed you are finally home.

Sweet dreams to all
love grammie and grampa

YIPPEEEEEY! I was blocked out for a few days and could not leave any comments. However, Grandpa Tom, once again, came to my rescue! Donna, you have created a monster. After going to Michelle's graduation party and Molly and Gabe's 1st Birthday parties today, you would not believe how many people are hooked on this blog. We just all love it and cannot get enough of it. So, do not hesitate to put up daily pictures and all the details of Jack's daily experiences. The pictures are just so adorable! I can't wait to see him tomorrow, completely wireless! I hope that you get a good nights sleep (if that can be done in three hour increments!)

I doubt Jack will start playing with matches during the 30 seconds you're in the shower. Go ahead and treat yourself (and the rest of us) to a full minute next time, huh?

And keep up the good momming.

I'm SO excited for you. Being able to play with Jack full time must be a real relief for the both of you.

As far as I'm concerned, sleep is over-rated anyway. You'll be able to sleep after he gets married.

Take care of your gift from heaven. Jack is in great hands and has wonderful parents, and grandparents. Enjoy every moment!

Love,

(your favorite) Aunt Nancy and Uncle Kevin
